a true story, told every trading day
step one
Not every seed becomes a sapling
Every NSE-listed stock is checked against real fundamentals — profit growth, debt, and valuation — before it's ever considered for a list.

sourced straight from each company's own numbers, not guesses
step two
The strongest sapling gets singled out
Out of every stock that clears the fundamentals screen, the one with the strongest price momentum on the NSE is the one that's picked.
plucked, and planted in your portfolio
singled out from the whole field — and checked again, every single day
step three
When the Storm comes, Shelter steps in
The moment a stock's own price trend breaks, the rule calls for shifting that position into gold — no panic, no second-guessing.
A Sapling, basking in the Sun
··· if the Storm never came— stepping into Shelter
It isn't a sell — it's a swap. The moment the Storm comes, your money steps into Shelter, then steps back out once the Sun returns.

Back on solid ground
Once a stock's price trend turns healthy again, the rule calls for moving back out of gold into the stock.

The Keeper checks in daily
That's SmartHold — re-evaluating every stock's trend each day against live NSE prices, the same rule applied consistently. Not a one-time decision.

why this works
It isn't trying to call the top
SmartHold never predicts when a stock will fall. It reacts the moment the stock's own trend says something already has.
1
Fundamentals
Avoid businesses that don't clear a basic bar on growth, debt and valuation.
2
Momentum
Prefer stocks whose price is already demonstrating strength, not ones hoped to turn around.
3
Trend protection
Don't stay exposed once a stock's own trend has broken down.
4
Gold
Keep that capital invested in another asset, not sitting idle in cash.

How we tested this
Every mutual fund scheme searchable in SmartHold's own Mutual Funds tab — Direct, Growth-option, currently listed (this carries the usual survivorship bias of any "currently listed" universe: closed or merged funds aren't in the test). 1,030 schemes, each tested from Jan 1, 2020 (or its own launch date if later) through late September 2026, switching into GOLDBEES on the same trend-break rule the live app runs, transaction costs included on every switch. Win rate is the share of schemes where the strategy's CAGR beat that same scheme's own buy-and-hold CAGR over the identical window; average extra return is the average size of that gap across all 1,030. Not every scheme won — the worst case lost 18.9 percentage points to the switch. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results.
common questions
Why gold, and not just cash?
Gold has its own long, independent track record of holding up during exactly the kind of stress that trips up stocks — a proven shelter, not an arbitrary parking spot.
Do I have to watch charts myself?
No. The same rule applies to every holding, every day, automatically — no manual chart-watching on your end.
What if the stock bounces back right away?
The same rule that moves you out also watches for the all-clear and moves you back in. It isn't trying to catch the exact bottom.
Does it only pick stocks, or watch mine too?
Both. SmartHold isn't only a stock picker — it's a daily check on every stock in your list, whether you found it yourself or it came from SmartHold's own picks. That means the gold-hedge call isn't limited to SmartHold's selections: add any stock to a list, and it gets the same daily trend check, the same flip into gold the moment its own trend breaks, and the same flip back once it recovers.
